For more than two decades, I’ve lived at the intersection of cybercrime and national security, from going undercover in the early days of the digital underground to helping organizations build resilience against modern cyber threats today.
In 2025, I’ll share that story with the world. My forthcoming book, Operation Carder Kaos: How One Agent Penetrated the Underground Economy (Taylor & Francis, December 23, 2025), tells the true story of a groundbreaking undercover cybercrime investigation that helped expose the inner workings of a global criminal network—one that changed how governments and enterprises understand digital risk today.
A Glimpse Inside the Underground
At a time when the world was just beginning to grasp the concept of “cybercrime,” I went undercover to infiltrate online communities that trafficked in stolen credit card data, counterfeit identities, and compromised systems. We used pseudonyms, obscure forums, and early encryption tools to build trust with those responsible for millions in fraud.
What emerged was a revelation, not only about the criminals behind the keyboards but about how fragile our connected world had already become. Operation Carder Kaos explores those formative years of cyber investigations, the psychology of trust and deception, and the lessons that still define cybersecurity today.
From the Underground to the Inside
Operation Carder Kaos isn’t a technical manual; it’s a look back at early cybercrime, and it’s a human story. It explores the internal struggles of living a double life, the professional and personal sacrifices required to maintain cover, and the dangers that come not only from criminals but also, sometimes, from within. It’s a story of perseverance, loyalty, and the moral tightrope of serving justice in a world built on deception.
For Readers Who Want to See Behind the Curtain
Operation Carder Kaos blends the pace of a thriller with the insight of a firsthand account. Written for fans of true crime, cyber thrillers, and intelligence memoirs, as well as professionals and students in cybersecurity. The book exposes the real-world drama, deception, and moral conflict that defined the early cyber underground.
